The Nexense™ ProfessionalCare & HomeCare
Patient monitoring in hospitals and long-term living facilities are costly and often limited to the ER and ICU. Utilizing Nexense’s exclusive 3N technology (non-contact, non-intrusive, non-emissive), the Nexense™ ProfessionalCare System offers an easy and affordable method for institutions to monitor and record various patient vital signs in a real time and non-intrusive manner.
The Nexense™ ProfessionalCare System can monitor heart rate, respiration, movement, “bed exit” and unnatural posture. The systems can be installed stand-alone or integrated with existing nurse call stations, helping facilities to enhance their level of patient care.
The System is equipped with a thin pliable sensor that easily slips under any mattress, and a small interface box for auxiliary sensors. The System has the capability to interface with a telemedicine center for immediate professional analysis or can be recorded on a removable memory unit for long term testing purposes.
In parallel, as the global population ages, many organizations have recognized the need to offer improved health care in the home environment, enabling the elderly to spend more time in the comfort of their own home rather than shuttling back and forth to the doctor’s office for unnecessary visits.
The Nexense™ HomeCare System has been developed to enable real time monitoring of various physiological parameters in a completely non-intrusive manner. Sensors can be positioned discreetly beneath mattresses, couches and recliners and integrated into any home security system or phone line to trigger a call for help upon detection of any abnormalities.
The following figure illustrates the graph results of an adult's heart rate and respiration rate over time. For example, we see that at the 600 second milestone heart rate is 70 beats/min and the breathing rate is 15 breath/min. Based on the first two indicators, a third table showing bed occupancy is extracted. At the 1200 second mark we see that the subject exited the bed. Consequently, the chart shows a lack of vital signs which indicates that the subject is no longer in bed or vital signs abnormalities. At this juncture the System would trigger an alert to the medical care staff.
