Nexense’s technology platform is a simple, yet extremely accurate and robust time measurement device which, at a fundamental physics level, changes how all physical phenomena can be sensed and measured. A quantum leap from conventional methods, Nexense technology revolutionizes the performance of current state-of-the-art sensor technologies. One of the key objectives of developing Nexense technology was to provide a means of measuring various physical parameters with relatively little expense and extremely high performance. The little correlation between performance and cost makes this technology unique and extremely attractive to new product development teams and marketers alike.
Nexense's technology was developed in-house and is protected by multiple patents – issued and pending – covering the core technology as well as more than 100 unique applications using the core technology.
Nexense’s technology platform marks the first time that one common platform can be used for all physical measurements. It is the most advanced theoretical approach to measurement.
The Nexense measurement technique relates to a method of measuring any physical parameter having a known relation to the propagation time of movement of an energy wave through a given medium. The energy wave transmitted may be acoustic, radio, light or electromagnetic, particularly in applications requiring the measurement of relatively large distances with a high degree of precision. The media capable of transmitting the energy wave can vary as well and include air, solid, metal, liquid or gas – any of which can be stationary or in motion.
Nexense transmits a cyclically-repeating energy wave from a first location (a transmitter) to a second location (a receiver) through a given medium. A predetermined reference point is detected in the energy wave at the receiver. The frequency of transmission of the energy wave is continuously and automatically altered in a feedback loop controlled by the specific characteristic of the measured component. This change in frequency is used to produce a measurement of the physical parameter.
Nexense’s method produces measurements in a direct digital format, eliminating the need to convert from analog and thus maintaining extreme accuracy with regard to the actual value being measured. Though dependent on several variables including materials used and operating environment, this method is capable of rejecting analog noise up to 180db while current state-of-the-art sensor technologies can only reach up to 120dB.
Many of Nexense’s healthcare applications boast Nexense’s exclusive 3N technology. 3N stands for non-contact, non-intrusive and non-emissive. 3N technology has been developed by Nexense to inspire a new generation of health and medical devices. Physiological parameters such as heart rate and respiration are traditionally measured by connecting an individual to a medical device with leads and electrodes which have apparent limitations and disadvantages. Nexense technology enables the measurement of various physiological parameters without any direct contact to the individual, enhancing patient care and improving lifestyle.
